STONEWARE

A language of form and colour

For Karin the making process lies at the heart of her work. Karin’s stoneware is thrown in different clays; whether from a fine grey clay or a coarse brown or black stoneware, each has its own expression. Her chosen forms include the bowl or cylinder shape that have their roots in a modern Scandinavian aesthetic.

Research sits at the core of the development of her coloured glazes. The surface of the pot is designed to enable colour values to build up as the glaze flows over its surface on its inner side as well as its outside walls. Karin throws each shape in small batches, where each piece is made unique by the application of colour.

By mixing colour schemes across different shapes of pot, unique series evolve that create an original language of form and colour.
